Why being aware of your surroundings is so important as an investor.

One of my biggest gains, to date, came from a stock I heard about while standing in the queue to board an airplane. Two guys, who I assume to were in the banking/financing industry were talking about their portfolios, this of course caught my ear. They were talking about the markets and what was going on, after listening for a bit they mentioned a stock called Purple group (PPE.JO). A stock I’ve never heard about before, but it struck me as something to remember, so I wrote it down in my notes app and then went on with my way.
After arriving at my destination I started to do some research on the stock, but nothing about it seemed to grab my eye, except for the stock chart, it seemed to be moving upwards in what looked like steps. None the less I decided to see what will happen and invested some money in it. I checked up on my investment a month or two later only to see it went up around 25% from then, at this point I was frustrated that I didn’t put more money into the investment. The investment went up another 20% or so and I then decided to sell.
To my surprise the stock kept climbing after I sold, I decided to rebuy after it took a little bit of a dip and that investment went up another 40% after which I sold. Fast forward to the time of writing this post, the stock is up almost 240% from when I bought it first, and still climbing, I’ve bought some more and it keeps growing little by little. I only wish I put in more money and kept it for a longer period.
None the less after doing a fair bit of new reseach on the stock, it has a big plan for it’s future, branching into many different sub companies, all withing the investing sphere, it still has a bright future ahead of it.
Long story short, there are deals around every corner, literally, you just need to keep your eyes, and especially your ears open.
